Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Kolkata's streets are filled with rallies as people from various professions come together for a 'Maha Michhil' (mega rally) demanding justice for the young doctor of RG Kar. The rally began at College Square in central Kolkata and moved towards Esplanade, drawing participants from across the city.
The protests aren't limited to this rally; several other demonstrations are occurring simultaneously across Kolkata including Exide, Hazra, etc which has completely choked the traffic movement. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have also organized protests, each pushing their respective agendas amidst the public outcry.
TMC’s women members are staging protests across different blocks, calling for legal amendments to enforce capital punishment for rapists. Meanwhile, the BJP continues its sit-in at Esplanade, which began on August 29, demanding the Chief Minister's resignation.
